Mud Run- Recount

Getting off of the Tamaki collage van, excitement was in the air as we changed into our mud run clothes. We were all exited and curious about this mud run, we were all excited to run the course but we were curious on what lies ahead.

Running the coarse was kind of hard running the full course and to make it even worse there was mud slowing us down. I slipped everywhere, in the mud puddles and getting pushed around by the other kids and falling into the mud.

Ali-Jon Key and myself were all together having fun pushing each other in and having a really fun time. After we finished the run we cleaned our self and changed into our other clothes.

Then we had something to eat while the man hosting was calling out names to come and pick a prize, unlucky me I wasn't chosen but at least 2 students from our school were picked. Then we got in the van and drove back to school, it was an amazing experience and I hope that one day we will do a mud run again.

Multicultural NZ

Multicultural NZ

NZ is a multicultural country

With Tongan, Samoan and even Chinese

Also what they bring that makes me pleased

With different food and even different cheese

Drinks that make you hit the floor with a crash

With people doing manus and making a big splash

We embrace all cultures and colours

We even treat each other like brothers

New Zealand is the place to be

With amazing views and dancing trees

Some cultures produce masterpieces

Each culture in NZ separate puzzle pieces

We love all cultures and you should too

So what are you doing?

You have nothing to lose

New Zealand is the place I love

Even with many cultures we still fit like a glove

The colours for NZ

Red, white and yellow are cool

but the best place to be is school

Thank you Vector Wero

Dear Vector Wero

I am very thankful for the opportunity you have given us . All of this wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for you, Thank you for teaching us how to be safe in the water and what to do if things went wrong and how to paddle the boat. Also thank you for teaching us how to cross a river and the what to do before you cross the river. I really loved when we jumped in the water rapids and Aisea, Key and I were floating away. Again Thank you Vector Wero for this great opportunity all of this would not be possible without you.

Tornadoes

A tornado is a violent rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm. The most violent tornadoes are capable of tremendous destruction with winds of winds speeds up to 300 mph. They also destroy big building trees and hurl vehicles hundreds of yards. In an average year 1000 tornadoes are reported nationwide.
Most tornadoes form from thunderstorms. Also it can form when warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and cool dry air from Canada. When these two air masses meet, they create instability in the atmosphere. A change in wind direction and an increase in wind speed with increasing height creates an invisible horizontal spinning effect in the lower atmosphere.
Rising air within the updraft tilts the rotating air from horizontal to vertical. An area of rotation 2-6 miles wide, now extends through much of the storm. Most strong and violent tornadoes form within this area of strong rotation and becomes a tornado.
Tornadoes are dangerous but if your In a house with no basement like an apartment Avoid windows. Go to the lowest floor small room under a stairwell, or in an interior hallway with no windows. Get as low as possible to the floor facing down and cover your head with your hands.

Hurricane

A hurricane is a huge storm It can be up to 600 miles across and have strong winds spiraling inward and upward at speeds of 75 to 200 mph. Each hurricane usually lasts for over a week moving 10-20 miles per hour over the open ocean. Hurricanes gather heat and energy through contact with warm ocean waters. Evaporation from the seawater increases their power. Hurricanes rotate in a counter-clockwise direction around the eye of the storm.

in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. The center of the storm or eye. is the calmest part. It has only light winds and fair weather. Hurricanes only form over really warm ocean water of 80 F or warmer. The atmosphere must cool off very quickly. Also, the wind must be blowing in the same direction and at the same speed to force air upward from the ocean surface. Winds flow outward above the storm allowing the air below to rise.

storm surges are frequently the most devastating element of a hurricane. As a hurricane’s winds spiral around and around the storm they push water into a mound at the storm’s center. This mound of water becomes dangerous when the storm reaches land because it causes flooding along the coast. The water piles up unable to escape anywhere but on land as the storm carries it to the land.

A hurricane is dangerous but to survive you can do these things  Stay away from low-lying and flood prone areas. Always stay indoors during a hurricane, because strong winds will blow things around.

Book week in Schools

Book week in Schools

This week was book week. There was a play performed in our school hall on Tuesday.

The play was about the Treasure Hunt that has been written by Craig Christie.

There were two tribes living on an island. These two tribes blamed each other for stealing each others song.

The Treeland tribe was led by George and the Seaview Tribe was led by Jessica. These two characters teamed up to solve the problem about the lost treasure that was there song.

The problem was solved when they were able to put the torn map together and work out how to get to the treasure. They had to read three different books to solve the problem.

I really enjoyed this play because both the characters were very smart and talented. They sang very well and were also very hilarious.

Thank you Sam and Lidia for coming to our school. I hope to see you again next year.

The Weekend

The Weekend
We were all sitting under a tree having lunch when we saw a dog, he was crying out to us he was starving he was almost the size of a stick

We all felt sad for the dog he was left alone. I knew we had to do something about it I would let a dog starve to death. So we got some of our lunch and gave it to the dog I knew it was really happy and grateful of the food .Also I could see how scared she was by the look in her eyes.

We felt like heroes and the dog looked very lonely so  we thought maybe we could have this dog and nurse it back to  health. We all agreed to have this dog and name it too, we named it Luna. SO we went home with Luna and lived happily ever after.

How the digestive system works

When you eat something and your so distracted that you forgot what you ate but that food is still in your body. Let me show you how food travels through your body.

First the food is chewed, the saliva helps break the food down. Then the food goes into the esophagus or the food pipe .when the food reaches the end of the esophagus/food pipe the food is at the stomach.

The stomach mixes the food and breaks down the food even more and then it pasess it down to the small intestines which is a tube about 1½ inches to two inches the small intestines break the food even more so it can absorb all the vitamins, minerals, nutrients and carbohydrates.

The nutrient rich blood comes to the liver for its process the liver filters out the harmful waste turning the waste into a more bile substance . Even the liver helps figure out how much nutrients goes to the body and how much nutrients to store.

Then it goes to the large intestines the nutrient are removed from the food mixture there are leftover waste in the intestines . Before it goes it passes through a part of the large intestines called the colon where it gets its last chance to absorb some water and some minerals into the blood.

When the water leaves the waste, it gets harder and harder as it keeps moving through the large intestines until it becomes solid poop. Then the large intestines pushes the poop into the rectum the last stop of the digestive tract and the poop goes down the anus and into the toilet.

My holiday

In the holiday my mum, dad and my brothers went to chipmunks and it was
amazing.
There were inflatables and little places where we could play but I really
liked the little room where
there were cannons and you had to find little balls and load it into the
cannon and shoot at someone
and he started crying. I felt sad and went to see if he was alright but
when I went I found out he was
fake crying I felt embarrassed

After that, I went to the inflatable slide but when I went down I slipped
and almost fell off the slide.
Then we went to the inflatable park but it was 2 and under but I still
went in. But the security found me
and told me to get out of there so I went out and went to where we were
supposed to play.

When my mum ordered the food we went to the table were my mum and
dad were. We had pizza,
macaroni and cheese and milkshakes. When we were eating we were
telling jokes and my older
brother Saia accidentally spit his milkshake on me and I had to go and
wash it off.

When it was time to go home we started playing fortnite and played until
it was the next day.

My uncle was so happy because he hasn’t celebrated his birthday in a long time.
